The NATO summit is coming to town later this month, and as members of the 99%, we won’t be invited to attend. But there’s good reason not to stay home. Occupy Chicago and numerous community groups have lined up a week of events and actions to confront the agendas of austerity and militarism and to present a vision of a better Chicago. Most events are free; some may require tickets or registration. Check out the links for details. Know of something else that should be here? Let us know at shout@occupiedchicagotribune.org

LOSING AMERICA
I closed my eyes, cause I did not want to see
I closed my mouth, cause I had nothing to say
I closed my mind to thoughts that would not go away
But now it all
It all comes back to me
I knew what was wrong
And I knew what was right
But I hid away
I didn’t stand and fight
Like everyone else
I went about my day
I didn’t realize
The price that I would pay
When it happened to them, I did not care
When it happened to me, no one was there
Where did the hope and wonder of life go
I look around and no one knows
We did not, stand and fight
Against evil men and make things right
Dark night has fallen all around the world
But I will never sleep at night, and I will never again be free
I lay awake and wonder, when they’ll come for me

G8 Summit at Camp David and NATO and Occupy Movement in Chicago.
2. Losing America – Artist/ : Katherine Vega ( KAAT ) : Are we Losing America? We have all lost our jobs and our homes and can’t afford college. We have all lost faith in our government and our institutions here in America and around the world. Who can we trust and what will happen to us? The Occupy Wall Street Movement in America and the World may provide the answer. THE VEGA says: ” We must all stand and fight and make things right, by using our two most important freedoms; freedom of speech and the power of voting, that together equal one strong and united collective voice, as illustrated by Americas’ Founding Fathers. ” Lyrics/Steve Vega Music/James-Paul Vega
